What Is Involved in a Proper Spring Clean-Up?

What Is Involved in a Proper Spring Clean-Up

Spring is the perfect time to clean-up your property and make sure your lawn is safe and beautiful. We list down the steps of a proper spring clean-up. If you need help with professionals, we, Beautified Landscaping LLC can help you make it done the right way.

Clean up (Lawn and Garden Beds)

The first step is to clean-up your yard completely, which includes evaluating the lawn’s condition, trimming any bushes or trees, and cleaning any waste. Dead leaves, twigs, branches, and other debris that may have fallen during the winter months should be removed to allow for a more comprehensive assessment of the land.

Inspect the health of lawn, trees and shrubs

Shrubs, whether used as a natural barrier, a garden accent, or simply for their greens, require constant upkeep to flourish. Because problems may only occur at particular periods of the year, it’s good to do inspections once a season. If this isn’t possible, once a year is preferable to none. When evaluating bushes, look for three things: general health, disease symptoms, and soil condition.

Prune trees and shrubs

After all of the trash has been removed, trees and shrubs will be evaluated for any trimming that may be required. Pruning is best done in the spring since some trees and plants should only be pruned in the spring. Pruning lilacs, for example, should be done early in the spring or after they have bloomed in the summer. Pruning this plant too soon, before it blooms, means you won’t get to see its lovely blossoms.

Repair bed lines and edging

Aeration is an excellent method to help your grass recover from the pressures of summer. Now is the time to take action in order to have the lush, thick grass you’ll be pleased with when spring arrives. Nutrients from the air, water, and fertilizer may not reach the soil without aeration, resulting in flaws in your perfectly groomed lawn.

Add fresh mulch

Mulch will add color to a landscape and give it a polished appearance. Mulch also aids in the maintenance of plants’ health and growth. There are several advantages to incorporating mulch and dirt into your yard.

Downspout must drain properly

While you may not be able to control when or how often it rains, there are steps you can do to reduce the impact rainfall has on your property. Water may gather in your yard without adequate drainage, causing structural concerns with your home, damage to plants and flowers, an increase in pests, and a dirty, swampy mess.
